The world's leading chip supply chain targets Vietnam


Partners of ASML Holding, the world's leading chip maker, are about to visit Vietnam and consider setting up factories.

A Reuters source said that leaders from dozens of technology companies who are ASML suppliers will visit Southeast Asia next week. According to documents from Brabant Development, the Dutch company is the organizer of the trip, the expected destination is Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.

While Singapore is seen as a potential location for headquarters, "the majority of companies participate because they are considering expanding or setting up production sites in Vietnam or Malaysia", the Brabant Development document reads. paragraph.

According to sources, at least two companies are negotiating with partners in Vietnam to build factories. In addition, Malaysia is also a notable choice as a number of companies already have facilities here.

Companies participating in the trip include Neways, which develops power and power control units for lithography systems for ASML, and Bestronics, AAE BV, BKB Precision, HQ Group, KMWE Group, Sempro , Sioux Technologies. The investment exploration into Southeast Asia is believed to be part of a long-term strategy to reduce market expansion.

These companies have not yet commented on the information. Meanwhile, VDL ETG, also joining the trip, said it "already has many other branches in Asia and has no intention of leaving China".

ASML is a Dutch company that plays an important role in the global chip manufacturing sector. Devices like ASML's lithography system, which costs around $170 million, are vital in making high-end chips. ASML's partners include TSMC, Samsung and Intel. The Netherlands recently planned new restrictions that would prevent ASML from selling advanced chip-making equipment to customers in China.
