Federer: 'Djokovic could have been GOAT'

According to the legendary Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic is likely to be the best player of all time with a record of 23 Grand Slams, but Rafael Nadal has not been crossed out.

Federer just returned to the Halle Open, where he won 10 times. The Swiss tennis player was introduced on the court by the organizers with the song Simply The Best, and then answered a series of questions about tennis.

When asked about the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) position in the felt ball village, Federer did not mention his own name. He said: "Djokovic has 23 Grand Slams and maybe enough to be GOAT. But as long as Nadal is still playing, that is not conclusive."

Djokovic holds the record of 23 Grand Slams after winning Roland Garros on June 11. The Serbian tennis player has one title more than Rafael Nadal , in the context that the "King of Clay" will rest until the end of the season due to injury and may retire in 2024.

Federer also said that it is impossible to compare Djokovic winning Roland Garros at the age of 36 with Boris Becker winning Wimbledon at the age of 17. Federer himself won the Australian Open at the age of 37 in 2018.

"I don't miss tennis anymore," Federer said of the experience nearly a year after retiring. "I take care of my family differently because I have a lot of time now. I go skiing with the kids, do housework. It takes about three or four days for me to check the results of the tennis tournaments."

Besides his family, Federer is busy with business and charity projects. He has just returned from South Africa after a charity trip to build schools for children. The 41-year-old legend revealed that a knee injury has not yet recovered, preventing him from playing matches despite receiving many invitations.

"I still work out four or five times a week," Federer added. "If my body allows it, I'd like to play a few matches. I'm not ready to be a commentator or anything like that. Maybe I never will."
